I wrote this post for those of you who want to add some Christmas cheer to the bedroom. This year, I used subtle Christmas décor in shades of black, white, and green. Garlands, cozy layers, and a sweet mini tree decorated with handmade straw ornaments. Beautiful Christmas bedroom décor is quicker and easier than you might think and will be sure to bring a smile to your face each morning from now until Christmas.

The Bedding
Start with a crisp white duvet cover and add on the layers in neutral shades. I added a second duvet in a delicate black and white line drawing pattern at the foot of the bed. On top of that, I added a velvet blanket with a channelled design. I used a set of black and white toile pillowcases on standard-sized pillows. In front of those, I added a pair of white 24″ square pillows with an embroidered border in a gold colour. To keep the look neutral, I added a simple fringed grey pillow. You could use more colour for some of your pillows and the throw at the end of the bed. Gold, green, and red are beautiful and classic Christmas colours that make for perfect holiday accent colours.
The Headboard
I always add a garland to the headboard at Christmas for a festive touch. This year I choose a faux cedar garland with little pinecones. I then added a twinkle light strand. So simple, but this garland adds a natural element and sparkle, without being too bulky. I don’t like to use anything flocked or glitter-covered on the headboard, because I don’t want to breathe in those particles at night or create a glittery mess if I toss and turn at night!
Side Table Décor
Take every opportunity to add bells is my motto for holiday decorating. You can never have too many bells. I hung a vintage-look bell from each sconce on the wall above the bedside tables. It’s these simple touches that really make me smile each time I notice them. Then, I added some simple plants to the side tables. Anything green and alive looks beautiful at Christmas.
Dresser Décor
Last year I painted our dresser in a beautiful shade of green, Bayberry, from Fusion Mineral Paint. It looks particularly good at Christmas, but still appropriate throughout the year. If you have time, I recommend painting a piece of furniture (dresser, side table, stool, or mirror frame) in a festive but muted colour. The artwork above the dresser has a beautiful and timely quote: Let the world sing of peace. It’s a lovely reminder of the meaning of Christmas and to slow down and focus on the things that really matter. I added candles, glass bottles and a cute mini tree.
Mini Tree
A mini tree is a perfect addition to the bedroom as it’s quick and easy to set up, yet still has impact. I adorned the little flocked tree quite simply this year, with Strohstern ornaments- straw stars that I made using a Crafter’s Box workshop. This was such a fun project to learn how to make these different stars and snowflake patterns. The natural straw tones add a touch of nature. Lovely, delicate and charming!
I’m a HUGE fan of shiplap. I think that it also add a Christmas Charm to your master bedroom – that although is year round, is particularly attractive during the holidays!
