This time of year has me longing for spring, both the verdant ambience of time spent outdoors and the fresh decor that adorns our homes in spring. We may still have mountains of snow outside but my imagination has skipped ahead several weeks and I’m plotting how best to incorporate elements of spring into my decor. Hence this blog post, Beautiful New Accessories For Spring Decor. At the end of this post, I’ll share with you the items that I will be including in my spring decor.

New Beginnings
Spring is a time of renewal and this spring I’m decorating a little differently than in previous years. I’m aiming for a less cluttered and more curated look. I also want to include as many natural elements as possible, from plants and flowers to nature-themed artwork to decor pieces constructed from natural elements like rattan, wicker, clay, and linen. The palette is neutral with the addition of watery hues and more muted versions of jewel-toned colours.
Beautiful New Accessories For Spring Decor
A Collection Of Clear Vases
A grouping of similar items such as these recycled glass vases with fern and palm stems creates visual harmony and injects a touch of freshness into this dining room. The look is interesting because of the various shapes and sizes of the vases and stems, but it is cohesive because the number of different elements is kept low (similar vases and similar stems).
A Colourful Artistic Lamp
This lamp is anything but boring with its rich variety of blue tones and interesting shape. A lamp is a great place to add a little colour and handmade appeal. A large lamp like this one really makes a statement, especially when it contrasts in colour relative to its surroundings. Notice that the rest of the accessories in this vignette are neutral toned. The green fern foliage visually balances the lamp on this table.
A Rustic Vase
The rustic pottery trend is going strong and spring is the perfect time to embrace this style in a pretty textured vase. Include simple greenery or branches for a modern look that brings a fresh feel to any space. A vase like this is so versatile and could be displayed on a kitchen table or island, console table, coffee table or side table, or on a fireplace mantle.
Terra Cotta Pottery
I have always loved terracotta and I’m thrilled that it is having a special moment. These pottery vases are a more rustic and artisanal take on the standard terra cotta planter you might find at Home Depot. They could be used as vases or as planters. They add rustic charm, warmth, and a pop of muted colour. The unique shape of the larger piece makes it interesting to look at and an item to be treasured. Terracotta makes me think of Italy (the tile rooftops of Siena for example) and golden summer days spent in the garden with my planters.
A Seagrass Pedestal Bowl
Spring is the perfect time to reintroduce natural materials like seagrass, water hyacinth, and rattan. These materials hint at tropical locales and easy, breezy summer decor. To keep them from feeling too much like summer beach decor, pair them with more earthy elements like spring plants, fruits, and vegetables. A pretty pedestal bowl, tray, or basket will add just the right touch to a tabletop.
Coloured Drinking Glasses
Coloured glass has come back in style in a big way and pastel and watery hues are perfect for spring. These blue glasses add a pretty, artisan touch to the table. The hammered finish is an extra detail that elevates them. They could be used for special occasions, but I like the idea of using special items on a daily basis.
An Embroidered Tablecloth Or Embroidery-Inspired Plates
White linens embroidered with pastel-hued thread is a sign of spring in our home. I prefer the two-tone look for a calm palette, but embroidered patterns can be as vibrant as you like. Anything with a handmade appearance elevates your decor and will make each dining experience extra special. I love the embroidery-inspired plates used here too! Use them on their own with a solid coloured tablecloth or runner, or double up on the playful pattern using the plates and tablecloth together.
Whitewashed Charger Plates
I’m so obsessed with these whitewashed charger plates. They are fresh and crisp for spring and look lovely paired with just about any wood-toned tabletop. They are also a natural accompaniment to fresh greenery like the pretty eucalyptus stems pictured below. I think they look best with solid-coloured dinnerware like the modern white dishes shown here.
Frayed Linen Napkins
While linen can be used year-round, light coloured or pastel linen napkins have a spring or summer vibe. The frayed edge is on-trend and adds a relaxed, slightly rustic feel to any table setting. Linen drapes beautifully, so placing them in a napkin holder is a great way to display how the fabric folds and falls. I love how this table setting feels fresh and spring-like with only a touch of pale or pastel colour. The black and cream accents provide contrast and the wood tones provide warmth.
A Painterly Blanket
A blanket inspired by paintings can come in many forms. This example has stripes of charcoal and grey mohair on a cream background. The long mohair fibres create a blended look that appears painterly. This is a warm blanket and is best suited to early spring decor or for spring days and evenings on the porch. You could take the idea of a painterly blanket in many different directions and colourways.
Boldly Coloured And Patterned Pillows
This spring, I’m loving jewel tones that have a slightly muted expression. The leafy print pillow shown below makes me think of the outdoors. My favourite bold colours this spring are muted plum, gold, olive, and muted orange (terracotta).
This beautiful terracotta hued pillow is on my wish list too. The wavy pattern adds interest to an already uniquely toned pillow.
A Patterned Petite Ottoman
Smaller ottomans are the perfect accessory and way to add softness and fresh pattern to a space. If your home is heavy on hard furnishings, this is the perfect way to soften things up, while providing an extra surface to place reading materials or to act as extra seating in a pinch.
Original Art Or Art Prints
Art is always a great way to evoke a feeling or time of year. This pretty landscape print from Pink Lemon Decor makes the viewer think of time spent outdoors, but it is appropriate to display year-round as the image is fairly seasonless. Landscapes with water or greenery are a great addition to the home in spring.
Vintage style botanical prints are also a lovely way to incorporate art into your home this spring. Citrus fruits and flowers are some of my favourite types of vintage style prints.
A Quilted Bedspread
Quilted cotton bedspreads in light colours have a fresh spring vibe while still being cozy and polished looking. The key is to layer in these quilts and use other solid coloured or lightly patterned bedding that coordinates.
I would add some solid-coloured pastel linen pillows to the bed to enhance this look. Using a textured fabric adds an additional layer of detail and enhances the handmade feel.
