Around this time last year, I shared my post How to Create a Cute Coffee Bar in Any Space. I hope you’ll check it out to see how I turned a small corner of our dining room into a useful and whimsical spot. In this post, I share with you my coffee bar décor through the seasons. This includes twelve months of photographs showcasing different looks in each photo. If you are looking for seasonal ideas for decorating your coffee bar, you’ve come to the right place. Sit back, grab a coffee, and have fun seeing how this coffee bar has evolved through the seasons.
To start, here are a couple of photos taken before I installed the board and batten in our dining room. The coffee bar started with just a simple table painted in Annie Sloan Paris Grey and a coffee-inspired printable in an inexpensive Ikea frame.
Next, I added the practical mug rack and after that we completed our dining room renovation, completing the coffee bar.
January
After the brighter colours of Christmas, I was ready for neutrals and used an icy palette of white, grey, and silver. The mercury glass trees added a little sparkle. Hot chocolate with marshmallows and a fresh-baked scone add a touch of comfort.
February
In February, I tend to do a mix of winter décor and fresh décor that hints ever so slightly of spring. I displayed my snowflake and tree mugs from David’s Tea in the foreground. In the background, you can see a spring-like magnolia wreath and coordinating wreath pillow on the bench. The colour palette is cool aqua blue, green, white, and grey.
March
In March, It’s all about flowers around here. However, it’s too early for flowers from our own garden, so I rely on grocery store flowers and faux flowers. On the mug rack, I replaced some of the mugs with these pretty pressed glasses in a fresh shade of green. The pink gerbera daisies add a touch of colour and vibrancy to this view.
April
April décor in our home is usually all about bunnies and Easter. I kept the green glasses and Rae Dunn mugs on the mug rack but changed things up a little by adding the Rae Dunn bunny canisters and mug. I filled the space beside the coffee cart with a green glass Demijohn vase with faux olive stems.
May
In May, the lilacs bloom on our property and I cannot resist cutting a few branches and bringing them in to enjoy. I also simplified the mug rack arrangement this month, and the focus is definitely on the pretty blooms.
June
The only thing I changed in June was the type of flowers displayed. Our garden overflows with peonies in June and since they are one of my very favourite flowers, I display them in several places in our home. I really like this colour palette of white, grey, black, green, and peony pink.
July
Our daylilies bloom in July and I liked the idea of combining the vibrant yellow with muted browns. This includes the iced coffee, the wood slice pedestals, and the vintage book supported by the mug rack.
August
This is one of my favourite looks for the coffee bar because it combines the bounty of the summer’s end with the comforts of home. The colour of the peaches and nectarines contrasts nicely with the pale baskets and green glasses.
September
For September, I used sunflowers, mini pumpkins, and vintage books to evoke the harvest season. The colour palette is warmer and makes me think of pumpkin spice lattes and taking the time to enjoy a hot beverage.
October
Aside from removing the sunflowers, I didn’t make any adjustments to the coffee bar itself in October. However, the dining room had a dressing up with abundant pumpkins in shades of cream and soft green. In this photo, you can really see how small the coffee bar area is in comparison to the rest of the dining room.
November
In November, I added some copper tumblers and baskets with handmade fabric pumpkins. It’s a simple look but I love how the copper really warms things up and the hammered detailing works well to enhance the rustic feel of the mug rack.
December
I hardly ever use red but was inspired by this adorable tea towel from Living with Amanda and the cute Rae Dunn red and white canisters. A few sprigs of faux red berries and a real pine branch add a touch of nature to the coffee bar.
This completes the coffee bar décor through the seasons tour. Next, I’m sharing a few styling tips for your coffee bar and the sources I’ve used for my coffee bar décor.
Styling tips
- You don’t need to change everything each month, rather keep the basics the same and add one or two new colours or décor elements
- Use flowers or herbs- from your garden, grocery store, or local market
- Use fresh fruit or baked goods as a tasty decorative element
- Don’t limit your mug rack to displaying only mugs- use coloured glasses, baskets, flower stems, pumpkins, books, ornaments, whatever you have in abundance
- Have fun and do whatever makes you smile
