It will look beautiful on your front door from November and December and all the way through Winter. And the best part is that it takes only 10 minutes to make! Supplies for the Easy Greenery Christmas Wreath
I purchased all my supplies from Michaels. Make sure to use a store coupon or purchase these items when they’re on sale! I wanted the natural beauty of the wreath to shine, so I chose three types of natural-looking greenery. I also purchased some faux white berries that I didn’t end up using so I’ll likely return those to the store. To add an interesting detail I chose to use a beautifully twisted rattan wreath base in a weathered grey colour. I love the tone of the rattan as it reminds me of the colour of driftwood.
I also used some fine gauge green floral wire and wire cutters. Scissors can also be useful for chopping off any parts of the greenery that are out of place or too long.
How to Make the Easy Greenery Christmas Wreath
Start by separating the greenery bunches into smaller pieces, between 2 to 4 pieces per bunch. Next, weave in the wire end of the most drapey-looking greenery as it will make the best base layer.
To keep the branches from flopping every which way, secure the branches near the middle (and again closer to the tips if necessary) using an 8″ piece of floral wire. Twist the ends of the wire tight and trim the excess wire before tucking the twisted wire end behind the branch.
Repeat this process starting in the same place but adding on the same greenery type in the opposite direction.
Next, take the more bushy type of greenery and attach it on top of the first layer of greenery. This second layer should not extend as far around the wreath as the first layer.
Repeat on the opposite side, using floral wire near the middle of each layer 2 piece to secure it to the wreath.
Finally, add on the third layer in smaller pieces. This greenery is more wispy and twiggy. I cut the original bunch into four pieces and applied two to each side. This final layer has a bit of nature’s bling- pinecones and sparkles on the greenery.
Make sure everything is the way you like it and then hold it upright to ensure that the branches stay in place and don’t flop around.
The Finished Wreath
This wreath is exactly what I was looking for to give that natural, woodsy look. You could absolutely add a pretty bow or hanging ribbon to this wreath for an extra special touch. I’d recommend a brown and beige buffalo check ribbon or a chocolate brown velvet ribbon. This wreath is such a quick and easy project and it’s an ideal project for a beginner wreath maker.
Ways to Style the Easy Greenery Christmas Wreath
Of course, you could hang this wreath on your front door, but you could also display it indoors in your front hall on a coat hook or in numerous other places in your home. I love a wreath hung above a small console table or layered on top of a mirror.
