This time of year, there are so many stunning fall tablescapes on social media and what seems like endless sources of inspiration. As a result, it can be overwhelming to decide how you want to style your fall or Thanksgiving table. And then there’s the gathering of supplies and actual “putting together” of the tablescape. My goal is to help you assemble a beautiful fall tablescape in 20 minutes or less, so I’m sharing my simple recipe for this easy pumpkin tablescape for fall. This tablescape would be perfect for Thanksgiving or any fall gathering. Click here to see my complete fall home tour.

Supplies
Note- I have used faux pumpkins here (except for the mini white pumpkins), but you can easily substitute with real pumpkins. I do love real pumpkins, but the faux ones provide a more long-lasting display.
Centrepiece
- Burlap table runner- mine is from my Etsy shop, but any neutral runner would work
- 2 large pumpkins- cream
- 2 medium pumpkins- soft green
- 1 medium pumpkin- cream
- 2 large glass hurricanes and candles
- 2 bunches faux lamb’s ear- for each end
- 1 large bunch faux berries (cream colour)- to be divided into 2 stems for each end
- 4 bunches eucalyptus or mixed faux greenery- to be divided into 8 small bunches for the sides
- 4 faux mini pumpkins
Place settings
- Water hyacinth chargers
- Large white dinner plates
- Neutral-toned salad plates- I used blue-green speckled plates
- Neutral-toned napkins- mine are ticking stripe napkins from my Etsy shop
- White mini pumpkins (one per place setting)
- Any cutlery you like- I used gold cutlery
- Water goblets or glasses
If you can’t find some of the items listed above, feel free to substitute. For example, wheat stalks in place of lamb’s ear or fabric pumpkins or pears in place of the mini pumpkins. Click here to see my adorable fabric pumpkin tutorial.
My budget-saving tip is to purchase faux pumpkins at the dollar store or Walmart and paint them with craft paint, Fusion paint, or chalk paint (whatever you have on hand). Click here for my review of the different types of paint for craft projects and furniture.
Instructions for the easy pumpkin tablescape for fall
- First, place the table runner so it is nicely centred. Ideally, it will hang over each end by about 6”-10”.
- Next, place the large and medium pumpkins, followed by the glass hurricanes on either end of the pumpkins.
- Add the lamb’s ear, topped with berry stems to the ends of the display
- Add the 8 greenery bunches to the sides of the pumpkin display (4 per side)
- Place the mini pumpkins on and around the larger pumpkins to fill in any gaps.
- Set out the chargers, making sure they are evening spaced and neatly aligned.
- Add the plates, napkins, and mini white pumpkins.
- Place the cutlery and goblets.
You can make cute name tags to add to the mini pumpkins as an extra touch if you like. For a take-home gift for your guests, make some easy DIY fabric pumpkins and include a note that the pumpkins are a gift.
This tablescape would look great on pretty much any table, but it looks particularly good paired with a harvest table. The white chairs are from Restoration Hardware, and you can click here to read my full and honest review of these chairs.
Of course the space around the table is also important, so I’ve added a cozy blanket and fall pillow, and more pumpkins on the open shelves. Read the open shelf tutorial here.
Summary
One of the best parts of this easy pumpkin tablescape for fall is that most of the components can be re-used next year. I have used these pumpkins for 3 years in a row in slightly different incarnations and have saved money by not having to purchase several pumpkins every year. I still love real pumpkins but tend to use them outdoors where they will stay fresh for many weeks. Happy table decorating!

What a lovely home, it looks so cozy! The area rug in your dining room is gorgeous. I have a large rug in my living room as well, but with kids and pets it is always dirty… so I feel like it makes the rest of the room look not put together. I have even tried professional rug cleaners. How do you keep your rug looking so clean and nice?

Thank you for your message. That’s a really good question. We only eat in our dining room a couple times per month, but we also have a rug under our kitchen table which manages to stay fairly clean, so I have a few tips to share. We don’t wear shoes in the house which tends to help, and if the kids come home with muddy socks or pants I ask them to change out of those. Lots of spills and accidents do happen at the table and I just try to clean them up as soon as possible with a soapy wet dish towel. And I do a quick vacuum every other day with a stick vaccuum. I also choose rugs for under tables in a pattern that hides stains- multiple colours, greys and not anything solid white. We have a home carpet cleaner and I do deep clean our rugs only about every 2 years. I hope that helps.
