I have to admit that the day after Halloween, I put away the orange and black decor and started decorating for Christmas. It’s such a magical time of year and with the cooler weather we’ve been having, it felt like the right time to add some holiday touches. I started in the master bedroom and added Christmas decor to the bed area and the corner reading nook. I hope you’ll enjoy my farmhouse bedroom Christmas décor post and can take away a few ideas to use in your own home.

Choose a theme
Even though the overarching décor style in this space is Farmhouse, that doesn’t have to be the only theme. The starting point for my farmhouse bedroom Christmas décor was the forest motif wallpaper from Rocky Mountain Decals. This wallpaper really spoke to me and when I installed it (click here to read about the install) at the end of the summer I already had some Christmas décor in mind. I liked the idea of keeping the décor really neutral but adding some sparkle and bling. I had in mind the sparkle and glitter you see in nature after an ice storm when the tree branches are coated with ice. To do this, I mixed woods and whites with shiny mercury glass and sparkly crystals. If I had to assign a theme to this look, I would call it the glittery winter forest theme.
Reading nook
The reading nook has a comfy chair and ottoman that I slipcovered in a white cotton fabric. To give the space a wintery feel, I added a cozy, chunky knit blanket and a tray with some neutral-toned seasonal accessories and a mini tree. The sequin pillow adds a little sparkle and glam to the space. Behind the chair, I added some real birch bark logs lit with mini lights and, on the walls, I hung some white ceramic mini houses.

Christmas trees
I added a small flocked Christmas tree to the left of the chair, which I left undecorated and displayed in a whitewashed wood crate. On the right side of the chair, I added a larger flocked tree that I decorated with warm white lights and white and mercury glass ornaments. To play up the winter forest theme, I added lots of glass pinecone ornaments, snowflake and icicle ornaments, and forest creature decorations. Isn’t that little fox cute? Under the tree, I added a hand-knit tree skirt, whitewashed wood crate, and white ceramic houses.

Bed area
For the bed area, I started with a gorgeous white bedding set from Beddys. I found the sweetest botanical print duvet cover for the end of the bed. I love how the duvet cover adds a little colour and enhances the forest theme. On top of that, I layered a white ruffled coverlet. The warm bedding and extra blankets ensure that we’ll stay warm and cozy all winter.
For pillows, I used two standard Queen pillows with simple white pillowcases. In front of that, I used two Euro pillows with white quilted shams. To tie in with the green of the duvet cover, I added two muted green velvet pillows. Finally, I added a sweet cable knit pillow and Silent Night pillow to add whimsy and coziness. A mini tree on the bed and a magnolia wreath above the bed complete the look.

Side tables
These side tables were an Ikea makeover I completed a while ago. They were formerly black Hemnes side tables that I painted white and added new hardware to (in aged, distressed brass). For the holidays, I added some green plants to the tables and hung bells from the sconce lights.
Upholstered bench
I kept the styling on the upholstered bench really simple with just a flocked tree and a Baby It’s Cold Outside sign. I’m revealing the new light fixture that we just installed too- it fits perfectly with the glittery winter forest theme with its numerous strands of glass beads and aged iron finish.

Summary
This is just the start of my holiday decorating and I’m sure I’ll add more Christmas décor to this space as we get closer to December 25th, but for now, this seems like just the right amount of décor. I hope you have enjoyed this peek at my farmhouse bedroom Christmas décor.
