Welcome to my Fresh Ideas Spring Home Tour. This Bloggers’ Best Home Tour is organized by Kelly from The Tattered Pew and many talented home decorators. If you have arrived from Arataria at Home, thank you! I adore Lindsay’s beautiful spring decor. Be sure to visit all the beautiful home tours at the end of this post. In my spring home tour, I’m sharing our main floor living areas and my best fresh ideas to bring a breath of fresh air to your home this spring.

Inspiration
My inspiration for this fresh ideas spring home tour comes from the flowers of spring and from the pastel colours often associated with Easter. Spring is the perfect time to embrace these soft, pretty colours and to incorporate flowers, greenery, and houseplants. Plants and flowers bring so much life to a home. I painted my fireplace a soft watery blue-grey as the main decor feature for my spring decor and I can’t wait to share with you how it turned out. It’s kind of an unusual colour for a fireplace.
Front Hall
I added just a few spring touches to our tiny front hall to welcome guests with a cheerful nod to spring. I made the simple grapevine wreath with pink and white flowers and placed it on our rustic coat hooks beside a market bag. The wallpaper adds a pretty spring touch (read about the wallpaper details and application process here). On top of the wall shelf, I added a simple tone-on-tone print, a candle, a pink vase of flowers, and a love cutout sign. Just a few touches but each one evokes spring.
The main hallway on our ground floor has a small table that I like to use for seasonal displays. I recently gave this little table a makeover with Fusion Mineral Paint. I went all out with the Easter theming here, with a couple items from my Etsy shop, a burlap bunny banner and baskets of fabric carrots. The Easter egg wreath and nesting ceramic eggs reinforce the Easter theme.
Living Room/Music Room
Our piano is one of the most frequently decorated spaces in our home (see how I painted our piano here). When I’m practicing, it’s fun to have something interesting to look at and I know my piano students appreciate it too. I added some concrete planters with succulents, baskets with moss balls and eggs, ad some cute faux Robin’s egg nests to the top of the piano. I also added a little Easter egg burlap banner and some Easter-themed music.
There are some bigger changes coming to our living room soon, so I kept the spring decor simple with a few blue and white pillows and lots of plants and flowers. My monstera plant has once again outgrown its spot. It may soon need its own room!
Dining Room Coffee Bar
I chose some pretty ceramic magnolia print mugs and green fern print glasses to display on my mug rack. Some fresh tulips and more Easter eggs adorn the table below. To see how to turn inexpensive dollar store eggs into pretty speckled eggs, visit my post, DIY Robin’s Eggs For Easter.
Family Room
I painted our fireplace mantle a soft blue-green grey, Boothbay Gray by Benjamin Moore. It adds a soft, watery hue that is soothing and fresh. This colour works well with the whites, blues, and greens of our family room. The gorgeous mirror is from West Mirrors and serves as the focal point on the mantle. The fireplace surround was most recently a dark charcoal grey, but I wanted to lighten up the space for spring and summer, and I can see myself liking this colour for fall and Christmas too.
On the sofa, I used mostly white and sage green pillows. The blue in the artwork ties in with the fireplace and gives the space a beachy, relaxed feel.
In spring and summer, I tend to use a lot of plants and flowers in my decor. The flowers I chose are all neutral toned- white tulips, apple blossoms, and baby’s breath. I kept the styling on the open shelves neutral, with just a couple pops of green.
The mantle display consists of just four items, plus my handmade fabric carrot garland. The mirror is a lovely gilded arched mirror from West Mirrors, and the framed art/quotes are printables I purchased online. While my other tulips are real, these ones are actually faux!
