Hello friends! Welcome to our Blogger’s Best Home Tour: The Perfect Brunch Ideas For Mother’s Day. I’m excited to be part of this blog hop with some very talented home decor bloggers. Thank you to by Mansa from This Is Simplicite for organizing this tour. There’s a lot to look forward to on this hop, from tablescape ideas, to brunch recipes, to easy ways to celebrate Mother’s Day at home. If you are coming here from Dash Lifestyles, welcome! I hope you’ll enjoy my garden fresh Mother’s Day tablescape.
When I first signed on to participate in this tour, I somehow thought I’d have plenty of time to order fresh flowers and fruit to create a living tablescape. But with social distancing and long waits for grocery delivery, I realized it wasn’t going to be possible to get any fresh flowers or fruit. I knew the colour palette I wanted to use (blue, green, and blush) and started scouring my home for anything that fit. Hence, this post is really about creating a tablescape by using what you may already have on hand and mixing and matching to create a unique look.
Choosing a Theme
I really wanted to bring the outdoors in for this tablescape- to have a little garden party inside out home. To achieve this look, I gathered every green garland I own, several faux flower stems, and pots and plants. I even found some nature-themed artwork that I was able to repurpose in this space.
In order to create a harmonious colour palette, I choose just three colours to work with. Green is the dominant colour, as it is the basis for most gardens and living spaces. My two accent colours are blue and blush. I chose blush because it is a feminine colour and I really wanted to use my blush-coloured artist quotes napkins! I choose blue because I found some blue and white dishes and some pretty blue faux flowers. For your garden fresh Mother’s Day tablescape, I recommend choosing green, plus 2-3 additional colours. Some pretty colour combinations to add to a green base include yellow, orange, and pink, or blue and purple, or white and blush.
Table Runner
I removed the white tablecloth that had been on the table for all of March and April and chose this white with blue stripe runner. I love the simplicity and country charm of this runner. It was the easiest DIY project ever. I simply purchased a 100″ length of cotton tea towel fabric and hemmed the ends. If making your own runner, I recommend having an overhang of 6-10 inches on each end. Additionally, remember to allow for 1.5-2″ extra material on each end for hemming.
Garden Fresh Centerpiece
The greenery and floral centerpiece is the highlight of this tablescape. It has a fairly lush look owing to the layering of different garlands and flowers and to the overhanging effect on the ends.
I started with a base of two 58″ eucalyptus garlands from AngelIsabella. Next, I added four 20″ frothy greenery sprays. Then, I added smaller sprays of faux hops and ferns. Finally, I added about twenty blush flower stems and ten faux green flowers that resemble peonies. Aside from the eucalyptus garlands, all the floral supplies were purchased from Michaels.
At the midpoint of the centerpiece there was an awkward point where the garlands joined each other. To cover this up and create additional interest, I added a cluster of faux succulants from Michaels. It’s a little detail that you really only notice when sitting at the table. Kind of like a little treasure you might find in a garden if you look really closely.
Place Settings
My two points of inspiration for the place setting were the blue and white plates from Pier 1 Imports and the DIY blush artist-quote napkins. I like to start most of my place settings with a charger and these water hyacinth chargers from Pier 1 are so versatile. They work with the nature-themed tablescape and complement the blue and white plates. Next, I added the blue and white dinner plate, followed by a white lunch plate, the blush napkins, and a white bread plate. The final touch is a small bunch of blue flowers tied with a strip of linen. I also set the table with some pretty green glasses from Pier 1. The glasses have a pressed fern design that ties in with the garden fresh Mother’s Day tablescape.
Other Decor Elements
To the console table, I added two pieces of framed art that enhance the nature theme. In front of the art, I placed baskets filled with moss balls and concrete planters with succulents. The arrangement is flanked by creamy white urns. The abundance of white in this space (walls, chairs, pottery) creates a simple and neutral backdrop for the various shades of green as well as the variety of textures in the tablescape.
I hope you have enjoyed reading about my garden fresh Mother’s Day tablescape and that you will gather what you have on hand and create your own tablescape. Thank you for following along with our Mother’s Day Brunch blog hop. Please visit Vintage Society Co. for the next stop on our tour.
