You all know by now that I like to share tablescapes, though usually, I create them for our dining room. However, I wanted to create a pretty tablescape for our kitchen table that is simple and easy enough to use every day. In my post, Garden Fresh Spring Tablescape, I share the simple steps needed to create this tablescape. In addition, I share three different centerpiece options. I really love setting a pretty table in the kitchen as it makes our ordinary meals a more elegant experience. If I’m lucky the tablecloth will last a few days before needing a wash. I just give it a little shake out between meals to remove the crumbs.

Our Kitchen Table
Our kitchen table is open to the kitchen on one side and our family room on the other side. This is located at the back of our home where we have lots of bright southwest facing windows. It’s a lovely spot to enjoy the sun in the afternoons. Our custom designed our solid wood table many years ago and it is the perfect size for our family. We often forgo a tablecloth and just use placemats, but for this tablescape, I wanted to create a more elegant look.
Tablecloth
I added a pale grey linen tablecloth I was lucky enough to find at Homesense. I did press it before placing it on the table as I wanted a crisp appearance. If you would like a more eclectic and casual look, then don’t bother with the ironing.
Chargers
I wanted to inject a little warmth into the mostly white and grey table/chair/rug components, so I used these water hyacinth chargers from Pier 1 Imports. They contrast nicely with the tablecloth and add an organic element to the table.
Dinnerware
I used these beautiful garden print plates and bowls from Bico Ceramics. The “Fern & Grass” pattern consists of ferns and garden greenery and I think they are perfect for spring. The deep bowls are a perfect size and shape for a bowl of soup or a Buddha bowl. My boys also love noodles and these are great for homemade Ramen bowls.
Napkins And Glassware
I added green accents with the napkins and glasses, both from Pier 1 Imports. The napkins are placed under the plates draping down the side of the table. The green glasses are imprinted with a fern pattern that ties in with the dinnerware.
Centerpiece Option No. 1
The first centerpiece option is a small rectangular basket filled with faux blue hydrangeas. I chose blue hydrangeas to add some variation to the table’s colour scheme and also because they tie in with the artwork behind the table.
Centerpiece Option No. 2
I also created this centerpiece with a bowl of succulents in the middle flanked by pots of moss balls. The moss provides a high-contrast element and also ties in with the darker green colours on the plates and in the artwork.
Centerpiece Option No. 3
For the third centerpiece option, I kept the succulent bowl and added brass candlesticks with white candles on either side. I ended up using this setup for lunches with my husband since we were both working from home. It’s a more romantic look than the other two options. What do you think- which option do you like the best?

I hope you liked reading about my simple garden fresh spring tablescape. I really think it’s worth the small effort to enjoy an elegant tablescape in the kitchen once in a while. I’d love to hear from you in the comments about which centerpiece you preferred.
