The Paloma is one of the most popular cocktails in Mexico and this is where it originated. It is citrusy, fresh, and very refreshing. You can prepare it with or without a salt rim, and with its fruity garnish, this beverage is a delight to look at. Some zero-proof cocktails are lacking in flavour and are no different than drinking a glass of juice. In this post, How to Make a Delicious Non-Alcoholic Paloma, I’ll show you how to make a very special and complex-flavoured non-alcoholic cocktail that even your friends who prefer alcohol will enjoy.

Why Zero Proof?
There are many health benefits to going alcohol-free even if it’s just for an evening. I don’t drink because alcohol interrupts my sleep and makes me feel off balance, but there are many other benefits. I do like the taste of cocktails and I like to participate in the shared ritual of a special drink with friends and family. That’s why I searched local stores for an alternative to alcoholic spirits. At first, I was unsuccessful in finding a great tequila alternative.
My search led me online and that’s when I discovered Ritual Zero Proof. I loved it so much that I decided to become a brand ambassador. You can use my code RZPWILLOW to save 20%. This tequila alternative has a well-rounded and complex flavour and includes blue agave flowers, guava, charred oak, mesquite smoke, and green bell peppers, among other ingredients. It’s sugar-free and contains zero calories. I really believe in giving great drink options to those who don’t drink alcohol or for the designated driver for the evening. No one will feel they’re missing out!
Ingredients
- Sea salt and sugar to rim the glass
- 1 oz. Ritual Zero Proof tequila alternative
- 1 oz. simple syrup (to make a batch: dissolve 1 cup sugar in 1 cup boiling water, chill)
- ½ oz. fresh lime juice
- Fresh grapefruit juice, chilled
- Grapefruit soda or tonic water, chilled
- Grapefruit wedge and rosemary for garnish
- Ice
Glassware
You can use any type of glass you like for this drink, but I like it served up traditionally in a tall Collins glass. My secret to creating a fabulous non-alcoholic bar cart is to purchase glassware from your local thrift shop. Most glasses are around a dollar each and thrift shops often have shelves overflowing with unique and pristine glassware.
How to make a Delicious Non-Alcoholic Paloma
- If you want to rim the glass with salt, I recommend using a 50/50 mix of sea salt and sugar (white or raw sugar) in a tea saucer. To rim the glass, dip your finger in lime juice and run your finger around the top of the glass. Then, immediately turn the glass upside down and dip it in the salt-sugar mixture.
- Next, add the Ritual Zero Proof tequila alternative and the simple syrup to the glass.
- Add a squeeze of lime to the glass.
- Then, pour in the grapefruit juice to fill the glass halfway.
- Next, pour the grapefruit sparking water to two inches below the top of the glass and stir to mix all ingredients.
- Finally, add 2 to 3 cubes of ice and top with a grapefruit wedge and sprig of rosemary.
