Happy New Year friends! My wish for you is that 2023 is a year of joy, success, and health for all of you. Thank you so much for joining me in 2022! It means the world to me that you read my posts and sometimes even share how you’ve been inspired in small ways by the words and images on my blog. I’m happy to share that I wrote more posts about the topics you most love and want to learn more about. Today’s post is all about your favourites, determined by Google Analytics. For the fourth year in a row, I’m sharing my top 10 posts of the past year. My top 10 blog posts of 2022 are a mix of everything I love about blogging, including crafts, DIY’s, IKEA product reviews and hacks, seasonal home tours, and gardening.
Personal Life
New Year’s Eve is always a time of personal reflection for me and I’m happy to share a little of that with you today. In 2022, I focused on health, creativity, and supporting my teenagers as they head towards independence and university life. After a skin cancer diagnosis in 2021, I am relieved to say that I have been cancer free for 14 months now. The experience changed my perspective a little, and I knew I wanted to experience life to the fullest in 2022. We embraced live entertainment and attended many concerts and broadway shows that we had waited to see. We took two wonderful bucket list trips too, Disney World/Universal Studios and Costa Rica, and returned to our favourite, dream campsite. It truly was a fun and memorable year.
The Coming Year
In the coming year, I will be sharing more of your favourite blog topics. Our basement finishing project should be wrapping up this spring and I plan to share all the must-see DIY and finishing information. I’m also hoping to participate in the One-Room Challenge again, since I adored my ORC 2021 experience. I will continue to share my seasonal decor, entertaining ideas, and my favourite decor products, deals and hacks this year. And, of course, there will be plenty of craft and DIY projects.
My Top 10 Blog Posts Of 2022
#10 – VALENTINE’S DAY FABRIC HEARTS TUTORIAL
This was one of my first posts of 2022 and many of you shared that you loved doing this easy project. With Valentine’s Day 2023 just around the corner, this might be the perfect project to try right now! As with all my craft tutorials, I share a supply list, detailed instructions including patterns and templates, and several ideas on how to style the finished product in your own home. These DIY hearts are an easy and economical way to show someone you’re thinking about them.
#9 – TEN FABULOUS WAYS TO ADD RUGS TO YOUR HOME
Rugs are such an important design tool and have so many uses you may not have considered. In this post, I share how rugs can be used to define a room’s space, create coziness, or set a mood. Even so, I think I was a little surprised to see this post on the top ten list. However, this shows that rugs are becoming something that many people now consider first when decorating their homes. The post also contains tips on how to measure for, choose, and style a new rug.
#8 – WARM NEUTRALS COZY FALL HOME TOUR
This was one of my favourite posts of the year because I really embraced this warm neutral colour scheme in all rooms of our home this year. I fell in love with a set of ochre napkins and I think they really set the tone for our entire home this fall. Home tours are one of my readers’ favourite types of posts. They give you all a chance to see inside the homes of several great designers and decorators. I know I get inspired by what I see, and I hope you find them inspiring too.
#7 – HOME OFFICE ORGANIZING TIPS WITH IKEA HACKS
Another of my January posts, this one captured your attention at a time of year when we all crave simplicity and organization after the indulgences of Christmas. Having the IKEA content in the post also likely boosted its appeal. Now that January has rolled around again, I’m feeling the urge to organize. I think that closets and my basement storage rooms are on my list of spaces to organize this month. In my home office organizing post, I’m sharing how you can create a practical and pretty office space anywhere. My home office is in a corner of the Master bedroom and while it’s not an ideal location, I make the best of it.
#6 – BRINGING THE OUTDOORS IN SUMMER HOME TOUR
The popularity of home tours is no surprise. What is a little surprising is that you chose a summer home tour as one of your favourites. Typically, summer is a time when people spend less time scrolling for decor ideas and my blog views decline. Maybe it was the nature of this summer home tour, bringing the outdoors in. We all crave nature and outdoor time in the summer, but this post shared ways to bring that summer garden feeling indoors. I think that’s appealing when the days are just too hot and humid to be outdoors all day. Houseplants have been gaining in popularity for several years now and I don’t think this trend is going away.
#5 – FRESH IDEAS SPRING HOME TOUR
My spring home tour was the most popular of my home tours in 2022. Spring is always a popular time for decor lovers because it’s a time of reawakening. We feel more energized and want to bring life into our home. Easter is also such a lovely and fun holiday to decorate for. Even here on January first, I’m dreaming of spring and a return to brighter days and fresh interiors.
#4 – BACKYARD RAISED GARDEN BEDS – PART 1
This project was a labour of love for me and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I’m so glad it was one of your favourites too! I put so much time and effort into researching raised bed organic gardening and choosing a design and plantings (not to mention constructing the things!) that I wanted to document it and share it with all of you. This post was in two parts and I really shared every little detail so that my readers would be able to reproduce this in their own spaces.
#3 – TOP 10 IKEA PATIO FINDS
IKEA posts have always been my most popular posts, so seeing this post at #3 is not surprising. I think we all want to have a beautiful outdoor space to enjoy in the summertime and IKEA is an affordable way to achieve this. I like sharing purpose-centred IKEA posts because it helps readers solve a particular design dilemma. In the coming year, I will share more posts centred around specific rooms or holidays. I also want to share a new IKEA hack post since it’s been a couple years since I posted a roundup.
#2 – REVIEW OF THE IKEA FROSLOV SOFA THREE YEARS LATER
I still love this sofa and am very pleased with how it has stood the test of time. I had been wanting to update this post for a long time as I have received countless questions asking how the fabric and structure have held up over the years. Readers also weighed in on the comments section about what they did and most notably did not like about this sofa. It’s definitely worth a read (including the comments) if you’re considering purchasing this sofa. I’m also hoping to have more IKEA product reviews this year, as we will be incorporating several IKEA pieces into our basement renovation project.
#1 – THE BEST NEW IKEA PRODUCTS FOR 2022
I write this post every year and it’s often very popular because as IKEA fans we all want to know what’s new and life-changing from IKEA! The new IKEA products for 2022 were right on trend and I highlighted products I thought were beautiful, timeless, and functional. I’m so excited to be writing a post about the best new IKEA products for 2023, which I will be sharing soon!
Summary Of My Top 10 Blog Posts Of 2022
I wasn’t surprised to see that four of my top 10 blog posts of 2022 were IKEA posts. In fact, IKEA posts garnered the top three spots on the list. I believe that I wrote only four IKEA-related posts in 2022, but I think I will plan for more in 2023. Home tours were the other hot category this past year, with all three of my home tours (spring, summer, fall) making the cut. I usually share a Christmas home tour, but we were travelling at that time in 2022. Crafts, gardening, and home styling rounded out the list for the year.
Thank you so much for reading my top 10 blog posts of 2022. Did you have a favourite post this year? What would you like to see more of on the blog in 2023?
