Are you looking for an elegant yet simple tablescape for your Christmas dinner this year? I’ve taken cues from the natural environment to create this nature-inspired Christmas tablescape. There are layers of soft textiles, galvanized metal elements, greenery, pinecones, and snowflake motifs to make your holiday table extra special. In this post, I share all my sources and how to pull this look together quickly.

Table Linens
Table linens are a big part of this tablescape. The layers of linen and cotton add a softness to the tablescape and create a wonderful contrast with the harder elements, like the wood box centrepiece and the galvanized metal chargers. The first layer is a beige and white micro-striped tablecloth from Cozy Linen. Next, I added a white and grey striped table runner that I made from tea towel fabric. Then, I used some cute beige and white dot placemats also from Cozy Linen. The tablecloth and placemats coordinate well with the linen fabric on the Restoration Hardware cane-back chairs.
The Centrepiece
I created the box for the centrepiece using pine 1 by 4’s from the hardware store. The finished dimensions of the box are approximately 4″ tall, 7″ wide, and 5′ long. I stained the box with Homestead House Stain and Finishing Oil in Driftwood. The stain matches that on the console unit and the open shelves in our dining room.
Next, I filled the centrepiece box with faux greenery (pine and fir) and eucalyptus branches. To add variety and texture, I tucked in some faux blueberries, galavanized metal bells, and pinecones in different sizes. I made sure that some of the branches extended out of the wood box to create movement. Most of the supplies for centrepiece filler are from Michaels.
At the ends of the centerpiece, I added a glass hurricane vase with a real jumbo pinecone standing upright. I also casually placed a concrete pinecone and another real pinecone. This is just one of several ways I included elements from nature into our holiday dining room decor.
Place Settings for the nature-inspired Christmas tablescape
On top of the polka dot placemat, I placed a galvanized metal charger. This ties in with the metal bells in the centerpiece and the galvanized trees on the console table. I used simple white scalloped plates, and splurged on 100% linen napkins in a beautiful grey colour. To continue with the natural theming, I added a rustic wood snowflake and a pine branch on top of the napkin.
I used simple crystal goblets and these adorable farmhouse-style wooden tags from Painter Place Home Co.
