Thank you for joining me for my nature-inspired fall home tour. This tour is part of the Blogger’s Best Fall Home Tour organized by Kelly of The Tattered Pew. If you’re coming here from Pasha Is Home, thank you! I hope you’ll visit all the other bloggers who are sharing their beautiful and inspiring homes today and throughout the week. Today, I am going to walk you through the main floor of our home, which is decorated with inspiring touches from nature.

Inspiration
My inspiration for this year’s fall decor comes from the colours of nature seen all around us in fall. This year I’m drawn to the neutral hues of beige grasses and brown oak leaves. However, I couldn’t ignore the beautiful bursts of colour from sunflowers and fall mums. As a result, I have used a combination of more muted colours with a few pops of bright colour. Most of our living spaces are neutral though I sprinkled some vibrant hues on our porch and in our kitchen. Somehow those seem like appropriate places to embrace vibrancy.
More Fall Ideas
Make sure to check out my fall home tours from the previous two years for more ideas. You can read about my Cozy Fall Living Room Tour from 2020 here and my Brilliant Colours of Fall Home Tour from 2019 here. I also have many fall crafts and tutorials for you to decorate your home economically with a handmade touch.
Nature-Inspired Fall Home Tour: Front Porch
I decorated our tiny front porch in shades of yellow, orange, and black. You can see more photos of our porch and inspiration in my post, Create An Inviting Front Porch For Fall. I wanted to create a cheerful vignette for neighbours who pass by our home and to our visitors. I’m a piano teacher and like to have a welcoming front entry for my students. Our front porch decor highlights the beauty of a fall garden, rich with sunflowers, mums, and cool-weather plants.
Front Hall
For the front hall, I added a cozy seating area using shades of grey, terra cotta, blue, and white. I found the IKEA seat bench at a thrift store and gave it an upholstered makeover. I styled this area with a beautiful wood sign from KT Inspired Home, a blanket ladder and blankets (click here for my 1-hour blanket ladder tutorial), a potted snake plant, and a few fabric pumpkins for fall. The tutorial for the fabric pumpkins can be found here. Alternatively, you can purchase the completed pumpkins from my Etsy shop here. I used natural materials in this space- solid wood, a snake plant, and cotton, linen, and silk fabrics.
Living Room
I wanted the living room to retain its light and airy quality so I added only a few touches for fall in shades of cream and terra cotta. I carried over the beige and grey-blue tones from our summer decor as they are my signature colours. Additionally, they coordinate beautifully with cream and terra cotta. We have a big wool rug in this space which tends to add warmth and enhance the cozy factor.
The only fall addition to the piano area was the faux fur throw rug on the piano bench. Simple touches like this can hint at the cooler weather to come. I’m trying to use fewer accessories these days to simplify our decor and allow for that necessary “breathing room” to truly appreciate what we do have.
To the coffee table, I added some of my handmade fabric pumpkins in shades of blue, rust, and ivory. They tie in with the colours of the pillows on our IKEA Farlov loveseat. If you’re interested, you can read my complete review of this sofa here.
Textiles
Pillows are one of my favourite ways to add seasonal decor. The simple addition of two colourful pillows and a pumpkin motif pillow add the right amount of fall flair. A cozy blanket in a cream tone adds a layer of comfort without the visual weight of a deep colour. The pumpkin pillow and throw and from Homesense, the terra cotta pillows are from Chapters-Indigo, and the other pillows are from Tonic Living.
Blanket ladders are a must-have item this time of year. I keep a few cozy blankets handy for family members and guests to borrow. For a nature inspired touch, I added pampas grass sprays to this corner of the room.
I kept the pillows neutral on our vintage sofa, in shades of ivory and rust, with a festive Welcome Fall pillow from Porter Lane Home.
Dining Room
The main source of inspiration for the dining room is nature. I used Bosc pears on the place settings, and pampas grass and fresh hydrangeas and other stems from the garden. A woven basket and the vintage glass bottles add warmth and an aged look to the tablescape that works well for fall. You can read more about our fall dining room decor here.
Kitchen
I’m still really excited about the transformation of our kitchen during this spring’s One Room Challenge. So, for fall, I didn’t want to add too much extra decor to the space. Since our kitchen is all white, I wanted to play around with a cheerful burst of colour. I used mostly yellow accents with a few touches of “pumpkin” orange. You can read about how I styled this tiered tray for fall in my post, Easy Tiered Tray Styling For Fall.
Family Room
I recently painted our fireplace a deep grey colour and and since then I’ve been planning to use a cinnamon colour as the secondary accent colour for fall. You can see this rich shade in the pillows and a basket on the ottoman. “Cinnamon” falls between brown and orange and can enliven a neutral space while adding warmth and comfort. I also used some more muted, natural touches to bring the outdoors in and celebrate the mellow, gentle sights of fall. The pampas grass stems in the black vases, the wheat stalks in the vase on the ottoman, and the oak leaf mantel decor bring nature into our home.
Fireplace
To decorate the fireplace mantle, I create a garland of faux oak leaves by attaching leaf stems together to form a continuous garland. Then I hung it from the mantle and created a centerpiece behind the leaves using other natural beauties- driftwood, seed pods and woven stalks. On one side of the mantle, I placed an arrangement of brass candlesticks and candles. On the other side I placed a duo of pinecone inspired decorative sculptures.
One of my favourite additions to this space is the sign to the right of the mantle that reads “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers”. It’s a quote from one of my favourite book series of all time, Anne of Green Gables.
