I love that there are so many different ways to decorate a Christmas tree. While I tend towards neutrals for our main living room tree, I like to experiment with different looks for our smaller trees. And I’ve always wanted a pretty pastel Christmas tree. In this post, I’m sharing how I decorated the five-and-a-half-foot tall flocked tree in my office reading nook. I used pastel shades of blush pink and mint green.

The Tree
This is a five-and-a-half-foot tall flocked tree that I purchased a few years ago for $25 from Walmart in Ogdensburg, New York. It was advertised as a six-foot tree, but it’s slightly more petite than that. The tree was a good value and with the addition of many ornaments, it achieves a nice full look. It’s definitely one of those trees that improves with abundant ornaments.
Colour Scheme Inspiration
The inspiration for my pretty pastel Christmas tree came from some wrapping paper I recently found at Homesense. I found a multi-pack of paper in pale pink and gold and some individual papers in shades of pink and mint green. Pretty holiday wrapping paper are a great source of inspiration, especially if you’re feeling uninspired. Some of my favourite places to look are Homesense, Michaels, Costco, and IKEA.
The Decorations
I am pleased to say that I didn’t need to purchase any new ornaments this year (though I did make some for the other trees). I’m really making an effort to shop what I already have, which is why I knew that the pink and green theme would work. Years ago, I decorated our main tree in shades of blush. And a few years ago it was done in shades of mint and forest green. I hadn’t combined the colours previously and was able to create a brand-new look by doing so this year.
The first thing I added to the tree was a fluffy white feather garland and a pale pink crocheted ribbon. Then I added the largest of the ornaments, several large mint green and gold glass balls from Anthropologie. Next, I added some glitter berry stems in a pink champagne colour, white glitter snowflake picks, and mint green jingle bell picks. I found all of these picks from Michaels over the past five years. Next, I added the smaller balls in shades of green and blush pink. The medium-sized green glass ornaments were from Homesense and all the pink ornaments were from a set of unbreakable ornaments I purchased a few years ago from The Real Candian Superstore. I used a metal tree skirt from Canadian Tire and topped the tree with a pretty beaded snowflake from Homesense.
You may have noticed that I snuck in a few of my grandmothers mint green and fuschia pink vintage ornaments. I just love the unique shapes and handpainted additions of vintage ornaments. I recommend searching out vintage Christmas decor at antique and thrift shops and through online sources like Etsy.
Pretty Pastel Christmas Tree With The Gifts
You may be wondering how the tree looks with the gifts wrapped with the inspiration paper. I’m happy to say that they look pretty good together! I haven’t used the snowman wrapping paper yet as I usually save the whimsical wrapping papers for gifts from a very special person from the north, if you catch my meaning. All the wrapping paper and gift tag stickers were purchased from Homesense.
Summary
I hope you liked seeing how I created this pretty pastel Christmas tree look. It’s so much fun experimenting with different colours and decorating themes! Happy holiday decorating friends!
