Yesterday I wasn’t even planning to do a Valentine’s Day decor post because we’re getting ready to make some big changes in our living room this weekend. The area beside the living room is stacked with new pillows, artwork, and a rug, and we’re awaiting our new loveseat this weekend. However, I couldn’t let Valentine’s Day weekend pass without indulging in a little romantic Valentine’s Day decor, after all I do have four sweethearts I share this home with! In this post, I’m sharing how I added some refined Valentine’s decor to our living room.

Colour Palette
One of the reasons I wasn’t keen on adding Valentine’s decor this year was because I wasn’t “feeling” red or even pink. But then I remembered some plum velvet pillows I purchased a year-and-a-half ago and I started to think a little differently. I love the idea of using somewhat unexpected colours for Valentine’s Day. My friend Jenn over at Wild Rose Country Home shared her beautiful black and gold Valentine’s Day decor recently. Valentine’s decor is more about creating the mood you want rather than specific colours. I wanted a romantic feeling with some jewel tones, yet I still wanted it to feel light and fresh. I ended up using shades of plum, dusty rose, cream, linen, and gold.
Start With A Clean Slate
This was pretty easy for me to do because we are planning to refresh this room this weekend. I removed all the pillow and blankets and most of the decor from the tabletops.
Add Some Pillows
Adding the pillows created the biggest impact for this romantic Valentine’s Day decor. Isn’t it fun what just pillows can do? I’m sharing my pillow sources here:
Pink tassel pillow, cream tassel pillow- Ilohaus
Plum velvet pillows- Pottery Barn
Ivory textured pillow- Tonic Living
Floral velvet pillow- Chapters

Accessories
Next, I brought in a pink throw blanket and gold accents including the brass candlesticks on the coffee table and the brass reading lamp. I think the gold accessories add to the romantic feel, bringing in a little old-world charm. Blankets add coziness and hint at cuddles with loved ones.
Of course, the space needed to have lit candles to create a soft glow. These vintage candlesticks were sourced by Regina from LuveWant.
On the coffee table, I added a stack of books about flowers and a cream concrete box with gold detailing. Maybe there are love letters in there…
And I also added a little tray on the sofa with flowers and a mercury glass jar. These little touches go a long way to creating my romantic Valentine’s Day decor without being overdone. The cute tray is from the spring FabFitFun box. I’m excited to be a partner with FabFitFun again this season and to share my $10 off coupon code with you all- WILLOW.
I added a little greenery to the other side of the room and a Paris map print from Grafomap.
If you’re on the fence about adding some Valentine’s decor to your home, why not try adding a few touches in a non-traditional colour. I’m really happy I decided to create this romantic Valentine’s Day decor look to enjoy with my family.
