Vintage amber glass bottles are a much-coveted item for fall and Thanksgiving décor as they add such a warm and cozy vibe. However, they can be hard to find in good condition in thrift stores and vintage shops. I am a small-time collector and I can manage to find only one or two if I’m visiting a couple of my favourite shops that carry vintage and antique items. They aren’t expensive, but I’ve found a way to get vintage-look amber bottles by upcycling glass soap bottles. In this post, Upcycled Vintage-Look Amber Bottle Table Décor, I’m sharing where to find these bottles, how to prepare them for their new use, and how to style them for a fall table.

Where To Find Amber Glass Bottles Suitable For Upcycling
My favourite source to find these bottles is Homesense. I purchase the soap bottles for $9.99 CAD, which I think is a great deal because you can use the soap pump with the soap it comes with, refill it as many times as you like, then use the glass bottle for something else. I used mine for about three years before deciding to upcycle it. You may find similar glass bottles containing other products, such as bubble bath, cleaning products, or food products. Sometimes the bottle with the product inside is less than you would pay for the bottle alone! In addition to Homesense, you could check out a dollar store, gift shop, or the gifts section of a department store or specialty store.
Preparing The Bottles
First, remove the label. Peel the label slowly to help minimize the amount of sticky residue left on the glass.
Next, remove the soap pump and thoroughly rinse out the inside of the bottle with warm water.
Finally, use a citrus degreaser and a scrubber to remove the residue from the sticker. This part could take a good five minutes.
Before And After
See the before and after of this bottle, paired with several vintage amber glass bottles. I used an assortment of these bottles for my budget-friendly fall tablescape. I simply placed a few faux pampas grass stems in them for a natural look.
Styling
These bottles are best displayed as a grouping of several bottles. You can do an organic-looking display using several amber glass bottles of different sizes and shapes like I did. Mixing true vintage with your upcycled pieces will give you a more authentic look. Alternatively, you could use bottles of the same size and line them up in a row for a more structured look.
I used these bottles in one of my fall tablescapes and then I moved them to a side table in our family room. They could also go on a console table or coffee table as a grouping of items on a tray. I’d say they’re pretty versatile.

I really hope you enjoyed reading about my upcycled vintage-look amber bottle table décor. So, tell me, do you own any amber glass? Or are you a collector of any vintage items? I’d love to hear what you collect.
